i added a version 2 of my ctf map because with schemes with mines its posible the mines apear at the start sinking any worms that start there.so if you think they are to much alike it would be best if you delete version one as version two is prob the best map anyway.

The best way, in my opinion... would be to have map ratings... that way there can be an option to exclude maps that have been rated a certain amount of times and still have a low rating.

All I can say on this issue is that the top 10 list will probably improve over time, naturally. It's not possible to have a perfect top ten list. An automatically generated toplist must judge the maps on certain aspects. Those are "downloads/views" in this case.

What I was thinking of is having good quality maps stand out from the rest, maybe by adding a border to the previews or something. I thought I'd let a special group of people select those maps. Maybe one person for each map type, best if anonymous. But that won't be done anytime soon as I'm busy with other stuff.

thx m8 .and btw i dont ever download my own maps i have nothing at all to gain by doing that .all i would get is less space on my hard drive.some people like maps for other reasons than you, just because you dont like it maybe because their isnt much space other people might like that same map because its a little harder to get the cr8.i doubt many people would be downloading their own maps if they do i would love for them to tell me what it is they gain.

The statistics are "to me" offically bogus. There all old maps that suck and all of a sudden, they are the most popular. Gay map making cheaters. Downloading their own maps.

Remember the old wmdb? I had it implemented there. I don't need instructions to implement it.

You have a point, it may be convenient, but I'm not implementing it on the wmdb. How am I supposed to anyway whilst still keeping everything organized. If I put it on the thumbs page, there'd be 30 extra checkboxes on each page and that'd just clutter up evertything.

The TFC website is nice.

I don't like to worry too much about a project that I do in my free time. What am I getting for this? Nothing (but expenses. I pay this out of my own pocket money. 15 EUR/month. Great eh)

A system which would allow you to select the files you want and have the server make a zip of them for you is not meant for compression, it's designed to be convenient... I could care less about having to download a few extra KB... but it's neat when you can select all the maps you want at once and extract them to your SavedLevels folder.

Markavian implemeted this nicely on the TFC site: http://tfc.mkv25.net/

Meiapaul, my argument is: the png files are compressed files alredy. ZIP'ing them doesn't reduce their file size. E.g. I zipped my SavedLevels folder and compared the file size of the zip with the size of the folder, and it's exactly the same. In fact, the ZIP file is a little bit bigger.
