Say what you will... 1 dude decides for the 100s who download it... excuses excuses excuses... the rating system is inferior in every way to the ideas that have been throw at the WMDB map gods. Dont listen to the USERS of your website though ^.^
Like I said tag GOOD things on GOOD maps and let the other maps be with default EXP or whatever (cause idgaf about exp and all this) and no tag... thats just an opt out of the stupid little pro map game were playing here... not that I cant still work for the GOOD tags... just I dont have to be involved if I dont feel like it... like I said... wmdb is a spam hole ANYWAY.

You know, some people take initiative from negative comments in order to improve.
Which isn't to say that negativity is more important than positivity. But ignoring things you don't like and deciding that everything is super-happy-fantastic the way it is is hardly the best policy. Especially if you want to invoke change, Mr. Nothing-But-Negatives-About-The-Rating-System. =)

is nice to have a map database... but lets just keep it simple... all im saying is death to the insults and power to the positive stuff!
sid, yes it's great. but... i'd like to have the map thumbnail get updated like it's supposed to though. i guess it needs manual fixing (please read my earlier text admins)
Is anyone else just grateful for having a nicely layed out site with a good community where you can publish, view and comment on maps?

can an admin please update the thumbnail pic of this map i just uploaded 20617. it refuses to update it to the tower, and still shows the thumbnail of a wrong map
also mark 20617 as secret/hidden cos it's a separate full colors version of the 20616
give exp on 20616 instead as it is the main map
and also the resolution info of 20617 is messed up. it shouldn't be just 1920x696 :P

Im betting you would have a lot more traffic here if you implemented a user rating system also... maybe you could SELL ad space then instead of handing it out to places like "worst shot ever" and all you would have to do is stop spitting at the people that walk into your store... :/

I'm really fed up with the system, too... it's so arbitrary! It's only natural that people's opinions on a map will vary a lot depending on personal taste, so why should only ONE person decide the rating of a map?
Would be so great to have a system where everyone can give ratings of 1 to 5 for categories "graphics", "playability", "originality", "effort". The map preview screen couild then display the average ratings. Want to see this so much I'm almost willing to pick up the necessary skills and code it myself ^^

CLown, the crap is that EXP depends o thef tags... so, they care only of EXp of the map gets, not the tags ;S
exaple: sometimes ppl make simple beauty maps, but sometimes elaborate, but still ugly/not impressive. Those maps should get different EXP, because of different efforts; ~ different incorrect tagz.

HALF a year? Ive been talkin this crap for a lot longer than that. You still havent answered my question... you only defended this crap rating system so nobody has to go learn php or whatever. Im saying... why not just put good tags on good maps and leave the stuff you THINK is bad alone? let the comment box do its job.

Actually, there are exactly the same amount of good tags as bad tags, along with a few neutral ones.

<3 <3 user - take no personal offense - this isnt the first nor will it be the last time Ive had bad things to say about wmdb's rating system. Ive seen a lot of maps and Ive seen a lot of wmdb's opinions tagged all over them. Say! heres a way to avoid conflict... since you are just going to host the pure garbage that gets uploaded anyway... why not just put GOOD tags on GOOD maps and leave the others alone entirely? Does it really matter if you THINK (since it is, in a fair amount of situations, purely opinion) a map is unoriginal or unimaginative? Those are just insults AND the only people who CARE in all honesty are YOU and the MAP MAKER. It doesnt narrow down the search or anything! Now, let us be honest with eachother for a minute... you go an count up all the options GOOD tags vs BAD tags... are there more bad tag options than good? Im almost willing to bet there are TWICE as many... tell me though, what is it for other than to put a smile on my face, my friend?

I think, because of the "maps" that people post in recent time, need to make some section of "all maps" (like u see it now), and "normal maps"
