in "overall" it describes: Would you recommend it to others?
if others wanna play it they should look at the scores and decide for themselves if they wanna try it or not. i cannot recommend a map as who would listen to me anyway lol
anyway 3 different ratings (+difficulty) should be enough, as having more only tends to get more messy. kiss
well lets replace "overall" with "gameplay" then. it's not like we need anything more than these 3 things to give a pretty good value rating to anyone's work here.
difficulty rating of course is something that could be added, but again it's sort of separate from the other ratings as it's not value based, as more difficult isn't necessary any better and vice versa :)
Yeah it should be one vote per IP... even tho that wouldnt do much against dynamic IP? I dont know much about this. As for the maps you showed... they all belong to the same author, could be just a friend who gave the author these ratings. That's a very, VERY lame thing to do. Transparent ratings please!
The rating process goes quite fair now, but 85% of all deal was made by Husk and мasta.. also one more thing I should be feedback - The maps get "originality" stars not for "innovations", but for creative, author make on maps (For example it's not that easy to make shoppa map out of ~10x~10 sprites, it takes much time, ideas, bla bla bla, but now such the things get "unimaginative" somehow)
Anyway, as it was expected, There are also some *cought* "SmartasseS", who rates their own maps (#21285, #21250, #21080, #9304, #9303).
These things sound very interesting
- weighted ratings (do you have a formula for this already?)
- new points/EXP system based on ratings; &
- rating transparency
Nando: yes, there will be more details. I just wanted to get a "working" version up and running as quickly as possible, before I lose interest again... :(
For now this is still planned:
- ratings breakdown for a map (something like on IMDb)
- difficulty rating based on player skill
- showing ratings in map preview + number based search instead of yes/no
When we have "enough ratings":
- weighted ratings
- HB random map script change
- new points/EXP system based on ratings
Wow, I love the way you've implemented the system FFie. Very intuitive and easy to use. Just a question: Do you plan to add a page where you can see everyone's individual ratings for a map? Oh and some kind of display on the map list page would be nice, of course :) All in its time I guess ^^
